PIer 38

Pier 38 is inspired by the old characteristic theme of middle eastern docks and the feel of an old lazy shipping yard. Being located in a busy restaurant area adjoining a huge corporate office complex and competing with more than 50 other restaurant the design had to be a unique offering. The intent was to create a lazy dock for people to come, sit, relax and spend a lot of time there.

Afra Tafri

Afra Tafri, derives it inspiration from it name itself, Afra tafri in Hindi slang means mad mayhem. Thus a colorful, causal, breezy yet elegant design was charted out as a concept for this restaurant. a unique everyday drinking place that puts in together a unique lounge experience in a casual set out. Being located in an upmarket prime location in Kolkata in Inida, Afra Tafri, had to be very carefully balanced on an experience which is delightful, breezy, open, casual yet have a niche and a chic upmarket feel to it.

12,000 Francs

In 1795, Napoleon offered a prize of 12,000 francs to whoever could invent a way to preserve food for his army, this provided the inspiration for this restaurant in Hong Kong. 12,000 Francs boasts an elegant exterior decorated with geometric tiles. As guests walk through the threshold, stylish interiors exude a seductive and evocative other world atmosphere distinctive from the chaotic and bustling neon lit streets steps away. Napoleonic inspiration weave their way through out the design.

Design is

Design is…, a selection of Brazilian Design group displayed in two hundred colorful mobiles. Each piece, in the shape of a cube, portrayed a different definition of design by creators and creatures from the universe of Brazilian Design, with less than a hundred characters. The installation created a moment for everyone to look up – a unique experience that challenged visitors’ perspectives, as if they were was seeking out stars in a constellation. Each has its own brilliance, but together they form a universe to be explored. It was a conceptual big bang.

The Tea Lounge

The Tea Lounge is conceived and designed like a nomadic camp: loose furniture is arranged in groups over individual rugs, some are placed under a stainless canopy symbol of the tent. Each group of seating is placed around the central tea altar acting as a fire place where tea, hospitality and comfort is provided to all guests and visitors. The Tea Lounge is a physical and conceptual representation of the ancient Silk Road for the modern travelers, a meeting place of food, cultures and ideas merging into a botanical palette of browns and greens representing various stages of tea production.
