Hotel Minho renewal and extension

Hotel Minho renewal and extension project starts from a building constructed in 2006, now renovated with new public areas and spa. The extension was designed to be very simple and in some spaces, highly introverted, retaining the existing structures and introducing the main new areas in the floors below the guests entrance. Pursuing a stronger relation with the site, local materials, constructive traditions and vernacular architectonic icons, the new extension used locally sourced chestnut wood as one of the main features.

Social Gastronomy

In Social Gastronomy, celebrity chefs with grassroots groups showed how "less than perfect" ingredients can be salvaged and transformed into a "more than perfect" feast for social good. The event proved private kitchens as key sites for social innovation, raised awareness of food waste reduction: over 3,600 tons of food are discarded daily and half are edible; it also takes 1/3 of solid waste landfill space. Guests reflected on ‘imperfect’ ingredients value, turned surplus food into healthy and delicious dishes. A cookbook is published to educate the next generation.

Interiors are reflective of traditional design infused with modern Asian artistry for optimum comfort and relaxation on an enjoyable journey. The cabin Simplicity Aesthetics match up delicately with China Airlines' well-know and widely applaud Elegant Service, which gives a touch of essence of Taiwan.

Haier Golden Banyan Trophy

Banyan trees are sacred in Asia, and featured in many stories. The tree supports its expanding canopy by growing special roots from its branches. These roots hang down and act as props over an ever widening circle, which can be a metaphorical life force. The designer interprets the ‘banyan concept’ into the physical and visual appearance, and realized the design in a modern and innovative way. As important, the underlying meaning is implicitly communicated and illustrated through this symbol of merits.

Style Hong Kong Show in Beijing 2011

Located in Sanlitun Beijing, 42 HK brands were house in a Style HK Show to sell and test the market in the northeastern region of China. A design response was required to standout amongst the venue surrounding of new modern angular buildings. In response, the concept “Flowing Vogue” was used. This had connotations of bringing Hong Kong style influences to Beijing and also for sites specific reasons to bring the visitors from outside to flow into our indoor space. Six futuristic domes were produced to house 12 of HK’s top brands using eco-friendly paper banners and fabric materials.
