The Castle is a private project started twenty years ago in 1996 from a dream from the childhood to build own Castle, the same as in the fairy tales. The designer is also an architect, constructor and the designer of the landscape. The main idea of the project is to create a place for family recreation, like a tourist attraction.
Continue readingAn introductory space design of 1900m2 was required, before visitors explored the 145 international watch brands within the Salon de TE. To capture the visitor’s imagination of luxury lifestyle and romance a “Deluxe Train Journey” was developed as the main concept. To create dramatization the reception concourse was converted into a daytime station theme juxtaposed with the interior hall’s evening train platform scene with life-size train carriage windows emitting storytelling visuals. Lastly, a multifunctional arena with a stage opens up to the various branded showcases.

Continue readingHotel Minho renewal and extension project starts from a building constructed in 2006, now renovated with new public areas and spa. The extension was designed to be very simple and in some spaces, highly introverted, retaining the existing structures and introducing the main new areas in the floors below the guests entrance. Pursuing a stronger relation with the site, local materials, constructive traditions and vernacular architectonic icons, the new extension used locally sourced chestnut wood as one of the main features.
Continue readingIn Social Gastronomy, celebrity chefs with grassroots groups showed how "less than perfect" ingredients can be salvaged and transformed into a "more than perfect" feast for social good. The event proved private kitchens as key sites for social innovation, raised awareness of food waste reduction: over 3,600 tons of food are discarded daily and half are edible; it also takes 1/3 of solid waste landfill space. Guests reflected on ‘imperfect’ ingredients value, turned surplus food into healthy and delicious dishes. A cookbook is published to educate the next generation.
